A mixed wheel setup — 29” up front for rolling speed, 27.5” out back for agility — fitted with Maxxis Assegai and Minion DHRII tyres, gives the bike poise and grip across varied trail conditions.At its heart, Bosch’s Performance Line CX motor provides up to 120Nm of torque, paired with a 600Wh integrated PowerTube battery for long-lasting trail support. The system is seamlessly controlled via a Bosch display and remote switch, giving intuitive access to modes and ride data.Santa Cruz’s attention to detail is clear: from the SDG Tellis dropper post for on-the-fly adjustments, to the durable WTB ST Tough wheels and WTB Silverado saddle, the Vala is built for riders who expect reliability and refinement.Bosch Performance Update 2.0Bosch have dropped a fresh update for the Performance Line CX and CX-R motors, and it’s a big one for riders who want more punch on the trails. The update is available for the latest generation motors with the codes BDU384Y and BDU386Y, and it can be installed straight from the Bosch eBike Flow app. Nice and easy.Once you’ve downloaded Performance Update 2.0, you can crank the motor up to a huge 120 Nm of torque, with up to 600% support and 750 watts of peak power. Bosch have also tweaked things so the motor can hold that power for longer when the riding conditions allow.The 600% support figure only kicks in between 0 and 15 km/h, so it’s all about helping you power up steep climbs and tricky sections. The maximum assisted speed stays the same at 25 km/h.As with previous Bosch updates, you can still customise the motor settings in the app to suit your riding style. Whether you want maximum power for steep tech climbs or a more natural feel on longer rides, you can dial it in how you like it.Performance Update 2.0 is available for all CX Gen 5 and CX-R Gen 5 motors. It also brings Extended Boost (Bosch Overrun) and support for the new drivetrain tensioner system, which helps reduce lag when you get back on the pedals.
