In the hills around Kyoto, the third generation of the Nagata family use special organic methods, known as Nature Farming, to produce a range of exquisite green teas for Clearspring.. The ancient farming approach used by the Nagata’s builds up soil vitality by maintaining a semi-wild environment, where the plants are not overly protected and gain nourishment from repeated applications of compost made from tea clippings and dried leaves, which together with regular mulching helps control weed growth and maintain soil moisture.. Whilst most tea farmers spray their plants with pesticides and herbicides 15-20 times a year, the Nagatas’ tea bushes have a vigour that enables them to thrive without chemical inputs.. The Nagatas’ yields may be lower than average but their plants have far less mould and blight. They remain productive for up to 40 years, twice as long as the typical tea bush treated with chemicals.. As well as growing tea, the Nagatas undertake the skilful blanching, drying and roasting processes to bring out the unique flavours of each individual blend.. What is Kukicha Roasted Twig Tea?. Clearspring Organic Kukicha loose-leaf tea is grown in the luscious hills around Kyoto and Kyushu, areas known for their ideal climatic and soil conditions which produce some of the finest tea in Japan. Uniquely, it is made from the carefully selected twigs and stems of Japanese tea bushes, rather than green tea leaves which gives it a warm brown colour, mild flavour, and rich roasted aroma.. How is it made?. The kukicha twigs are steamed, rolled and dried before slowly being aged to develop the mild, nutty and soothing flavour for which Kukicha is celebrated. The roasting process helps to reduce the caffeine in our Kukicha, making it much lower than in coffee, black tea and green tea. It is ideal for the whole family at any time of the day, especially for those looking for a soothing, rather than stimulating drink in the evening.. Organic. Vegan&Kosher. Ingredients. Organically grown roasted green tea twigs, stems and leaves. Allergens inbold. Directions. Boil fresh water and pour over the teabag. Infuse for 5 minutes only for the best flavour.. New 100% Sustainable Packaging. Teabags:Compostable. Tags, Envelopes, Carton:Recyclable. Our tea bags are completely plastic-free and home compostable. They are stitched together using a unique folding process rather than sealed with plastic or stapled. The string holding the tea bag is made of 100% organic cotton.. So please recycle the packaging and compost your teabags or pop them in your food waste bin.. *Please note packaging may vary
